SEA EL SANTISIMO – A Manual for Misa Espiritual & Mediumship Development
Product Description
SEA EL SANTISIMO sets out to be an alternative, English language primer for the practice of Espiritismo and Mediumship Development. While there are many different types of spiritual religions in the modern world today, Espiritismo (Caribbean Spiritism) is a widely known spiritist practice of Caribbean cultures. This manual provides detailed information based on the principals that an Espiritista would live by, a ‘how to’ guide on performing Misa Espiritual, information on setting up and work a ‘boveda’ and how to do novenas to the saints and spirits. Also included are the celebrations for the Day of the Dead, songs for Misa Espiritual and prayers for La Madama, El Congo and many Saints.

I bought this book and I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The author does explain how to set up a Boveda and gives a bit of history, but a good 75% of the book is reprints of prayers and song lyrics. I do use this book, but as a manual for misa espiritual and mediumship development, it falls short.

The author has done a nice job preparing a working manual for Espiritistas. The book features the entire Latin Mass, Several Spiritist prayers from Kardec, Many prayers to different Saints for different purposes, and also some prayers for Folk Saints such as La Madama and the Congo Spirits. The author has also included a section on the Boveda and how to set one up.
The only thing I found lacking that every Espiritismo Book on the market to date has lacked is some more information on the colognes, waters, incenses, and washes used at Misas and in the general practice of Espiritismo.

For those who want an introduction on Espiritismo, this is the book! If you want to know how to set up and work a boveda, this is the book! Anyone can set up a boveda and honor their spirit guides and ancesors. Most of the prayers in this book can also be found in the New Devotionary Spiritist Collection of Selected Prayers by Allan Kardec.

If you are new to Caribbean Spiritism, this book is the perfect place to start. It goes on to explain not only how to set up your first boveda and how to use and maintain it, but why things are done the way they are done. The person that made a review of this book stating that 75% of it is prayers didn’t mention that prayer is FUNDAMENTAL in Espiritismo and such a book needs to have prayers in them. Yes, you can find the prayers in the New Devotionary Spiritist Collection of Prayers from Allan Kardec, but all who own that book know how badly it was translated. It is FULL of grammatical errors and words that are misplaced or rarely used anymore in the english language. In this Book, Sea El Santisimo, the translation and prayers are concise and easy to read and use.
As far as mediumship goes, the author goes on to explain that mediumship is a process that takes time to learn and develop. However, it doesn’t go very much into detail on becoming a medium. It is a starter book on the subject and a great one at that.
I highly recommend purchasing this book and 5 stars isn’t enough imho.
